Valentine’s Day Chocolate Hearts Recipe
I recently shared Red Velvet Truffles and mentioned I wanted to change up my usual Valentine’s baking. Still, I couldn’t resist making heart-shaped treats this year. A sweet surprise from my husband nudged me back into the kitchen: he brought me a set of heart-shaped cookie cutters as an early Valentine’s gift. He’d noticed how food bloggers plan ahead and thought I might need them — a thoughtful and practical present that I really appreciated.

Rather than baking ordinary cookies, I decided to make something my husband loves even more: edible cookie dough shaped into hearts and dipped in chocolate. He’s one of those people who always sneaks raw cookie dough before the cookies ever see the oven, so this year I gave him the full raw-dough experience — intentionally.

Edible Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles
The base for these hearts comes from a popular cookie dough bar recipe, with one simple twist: instead of pressing the dough into bars, I rolled it out and used heart-shaped cutters. Once the hearts are cut, they’re briefly frozen and then dipped in melted chocolate to form a crisp shell. The centers are soft, peanut-buttery cookie dough studded with mini chocolate chips — a perfect contrast in texture and flavor.
Chocolate Dipped Peanut Butter Cookie Dough
I didn’t bake the dough because my husband prefers raw cookie dough to baked cookies. When he first tasted one of these truffles he was surprised and delighted to find peanut butter cookie dough, packed with mini chocolate chips, hidden inside a crunchy chocolate shell. These bites are easy to make, affectionate to share, and irresistible to anyone who loves cookie dough.

Description
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Valentine’s Hearts combine buttery, peanut-butter cookie dough with mini chocolate chips, shaped into hearts and coated in chocolate. They are a no-bake, easy-to-make Valentine’s Day treat that stores well and travels easily for gifting.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 6 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 7 oz sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup mini chocolate chip morsels
For dipping and decoration:
- 10 oz semi-sweet baking chocolate
- 1.5 oz white chocolate for garnish
- A few drops of pink or red food coloring
Instructions
- Beat the softened butter and brown sugar together until well combined. Add the vanilla and peanut butter, then beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Add the flour and the sweetened condensed milk, mixing until the dough comes together and is smooth.
- Fold in the mini chocolate chips, distributing them evenly through the dough.
- Press the mixture into an 8 x 8-inch baking dish lined with parchment paper. Chill the dough in the refrigerator until firm.
- Lift the chilled dough from the dish using the parchment paper. Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out hearts and place them on a tray lined with parchment paper. Freeze the hearts briefly while you melt the chocolate.
- Melt the semi-sweet chocolate. Working one heart at a time, dip each piece into the chocolate using a fork, tapping off any excess chocolate, then return it to the parchment-lined tray. Refrigerate until the chocolate is set.
- Melt the white chocolate and tint with a few drops of red or pink food coloring. Transfer the white chocolate to a small piping bag or a plastic bag with the tip snipped off, and drizzle over the cooled truffles for decoration.
