We went out for a cool evening run tonight, and it turned into exactly the kind of easy workout we needed. Our legs still felt a little heavy from the sweaty 16 miles we put in over the weekend, so we kept the pace comfortable and focused on simply moving well. Even with tired legs, we were able to get in a solid 3-mile run around town, and it felt good to shake everything out.
The air was the best part of the whole run. A light breeze kept brushing against our skin, giving us those tiny reminders that fall is on the way. I am more than ready for cooler running weather, cozy evenings, and that fresh feeling that comes with the change of seasons. The pumpkin spice candle is already burning in our house, and it smells absolutely delicious. It may not officially feel like fall yet, but we are definitely welcoming it early.
After the run, I did a little bit of stretching to loosen up my legs and then hopped in the shower. I was not expecting anything special afterward, but when I came back out, I found a warm dinner waiting for us. There is something so comforting about finishing an easy evening run and then sitting down to a homemade meal, especially when someone else has taken the time to cook it.

It was such a simple, happy moment: tired legs, clean skin, a cozy kitchen, and the smell of dinner ready to be served. Weeknight meals do not have to be complicated to feel special, and tonight was a perfect reminder of that. A good run and a warm plate of pasta can make an ordinary evening feel like something worth slowing down for.
My fabulous husband cooked us a warm and satisfying dinner tonight, and it was exactly what we were craving after our run. The meal had plenty of comfort, a little freshness, and just the right balance of flavors. Pasta always feels like a great post-run dinner, especially when it is paired with vegetables and something hearty on the side.

The dinner was colorful, filling, and easy to love. It had that homemade quality that makes you want to sit down, relax, and enjoy every bite without rushing. After a long weekend run and a lighter 3-mile recovery run, this meal felt like a cozy way to refuel and wind down for the night.
The Menu
Bowtie pasta with marinara, fresh melty mozzarella chunks, and parmesan
Black bean succotash with black beans, green peppers, onion, green tomatoes, mushrooms, basil, and rosemary
Orange juice
The bowtie pasta was warm, saucy, and comforting, with the mozzarella melting into little creamy pockets throughout the dish. The parmesan added a salty finish, and the marinara pulled everything together in the best way. It was the kind of easy pasta dinner that works perfectly after a run because it is simple, familiar, and satisfying.
The black bean succotash brought in a completely different texture and flavor. The black beans made it hearty, while the green peppers, onion, green tomatoes, and mushrooms added freshness and depth. The basil and rosemary gave it a fragrant, herby flavor that made the side dish feel special without being fussy. Together, the pasta and succotash made a balanced weeknight dinner that felt both comforting and nourishing.

Kudos to the chef. I always appreciate a homemade dinner, but I appreciate it even more after a workout. Tonight’s easy 3-mile run, the first hints of fall in the air, and this warm pasta dinner made the whole evening feel calm and cozy. It was not fancy or overplanned, and that is exactly why it was so good.
Now it is law school finals time again for Eric, so we are spending the rest of the evening at sbux with coffee, study materials, and a little blogging. It is one of those nights where we are both doing our own work, but still enjoying being together. He is studying, I am writing, and we are both fueled by caffeine and a good dinner.
There is something nice about ending the day this way. A refreshing evening run, a warm homemade meal, and a quiet coffee shop night make for a simple but full routine. Cheers to cool breezes, fall candles, post-run pasta, and productive nights.

Cheers.
